Lots of people own guns, it is not unusual. The guy I went out with for 30 years owns guns (but at least he knows how to shoot them).
To some men, owning guns is a sign of having balls. Some women might not understand this, but I think it's normal.
But I got nervous about the guns because Wacko is so intense about this music project, so I thought if he thought I was quitting he might get crazy. But this is all my imagination and my paranoia.
Anyone, anywhere, can unexpectedly become violent and try to kill us. It can happen on your way to work.
So, on the one hand I do feel like getting away from Wacko and accepting the disappointment of not starting a band. On the other, I don't want to make a bigger deal out of this than what it really is.
If Wacko was really terrible, why would his wife tolerate him? Well, he did tell me once that she is too old to find anyone else. Nice Wacko! One thing I do hate about him is he often makes comments about women looking old. He is no prize himself, but thinks he is.

BUT you don't go out of your way to be friends with someone who abuses you.
You can start your OWN band, sheesh!
As for why his wife stays with him, perhaps for the same reason you stay with him, who knows, who cares, you keep making EXCUSES. go see a therapist

You're insecure. Yeah, you could call it a "natural target".
You probably had issues way before the divorce because most times when women "pick" a bad guy it's that they're trying to "fix" the feeling....lets call it....from their father issues as children.
My eyes glazed over with all this band stuff. It's clear you are PICKING WEIRDOS to associate with.
What's the PAYOFF for YOU? (a shrink would be asking you).
I don't know what these other jobs were but IMO, if you WERE good at them then why were you bullied? Do you think of EVERYTHING as "bullying"? Even COACHING?
A REAL JOB dealing with the public will help you learn how to deal with people if you have good training with skills they teach you. It's a total confidence builder to actually KNOW what you're talking about and be able to have your customer appreciate it. Even if they don't like the answer.
An example of this is me working at the phone company at age 17. I never even SAW a phone bill let alone have to make a bunch of adults respect my explanation.
I suggest counseling and get away from this "band" business. You couldn't probably pick a worse environment.
You have given every excuse to be with this man. So be with this man.
Take the fall back when it happens and I can assure you it will.
You are 64 years of age.

Get that in your head.

I do not think you really want advice. What you want is a way to stay with this man although he makes your life hell. He is married...you are not and you are 64 years of age. Get that around your head.
And you think we are going to supply a way to get you to stay with this man, married or not, and you want him to want you.

I had. Nothing to indicate this guy is a danger, or that she has some romantic interest in him.

I want to finally get a strong backbone, because I am so tired of the stress, and tired of things getting ruined for me by bullies.
I don't know what I should do about Wacko. I think I will give it another chance, and try not to do any of the things that make him angry (like saying ANYTHING even SLIGHTLY critical of Trump. Jeez. And I am a Trump sympathizer).
If he finds things to get angry about anyway, I will have to give up on starting a band with him. I'll just try to find someone else. I am scared of angry people. I think everyone is, actually. We don't know for sure if they could become violent.
What is her definition of angry? Grumpy face? Throwing things? Gets quiet? Physical abuse?
To her TONS of people are bullies, bully spouses, bully co-workers, bully friends...... That kind of gives you a context of how she views the world.
