Perhaps what "Portland needs (and Oregon)" is fewer people moving here who try to make it like where they are from.
I like In 'N Out Burger personally, but whenever I go with someone from Oregon to California and we stop at one, the response is usually "What's all the hype about?" They do make good burgers and the quality is fairly consistent at most locations.

But I've grown to love Burgerville too... It's pretty unique that they have seasonal items that use local ingredients from the Northwest like the Walla Walla onion rings or pumpkin milkshakes or fried asparagus spears. Even if there was In 'N Outs up here, I think Burgerville would be fine, since In 'N Out is just a basic burger and fries type of place that doesn't offer anything beyong that.

I'd like to see Burgerville expand a little more in the state - although Jasper's in Medford is pretty good, too (apparently the one in Jacksonville just sold). There are actually good hamburgers in Klamth Falls too - a fairly new place called Back 40 Cafe on S. 6th Street (they are open for breakfast and lunch, but I think it's just Wednesday through Saturday). They use Prather Ranch beef and it's great. Both Jaspers and Back 40 have around 10 tables, max, although Jasper's has outdoor seating as well.

Although, to give you an idea of how bad the restaurant biz is in K Falls, Muchos Gracias opened and closed about 2 weeks later. I don't think I've ever seen another Muchos Gracias close. Really bad location, though, that couldn't have helped. Granted, they don't have the best Mexican food, but it's an Oregon chain that tends to do well.

Weren't those asparagus spears kiler? I also love their berry sundaes/shakes.

I greatly enjoyed my visits to Burgerville...but I would still like In-n-out. The two not mutually exclusive

Why not open up your own In-N-Out and while you're at it, start up a Dunkin Donuts shop too?

I'm sorry, I just don't get why someone would move somewhere and then whine because the new place doesn't have what the old place has.

Maybe Portland needs to develop a special retail and restaurant section called Outsiderville.

It could be placed it in Vancouver!

Mall 205 has some open spots inside it still. Nobody goes there anyways, so perhaps these places could fill those empty spots and bring a few dozen more people into mall itself.

speaking of what portland needs...that mall needs to be torn down asap. Turn into a nice outdoor pedestrian area. That is a mall you used to go to in the 1980s...it's way past its primetime. The area is busy need to use it for better retail and consumer retail type. Wonderful potential there.

Good idea. When will you start this project?
