THe only good knishes are those that you can get that are homemade. The ones in the local delis (do you use that term in Portland?) taste so manufactured and are not worth bothering with.

I love bangers (much better than American sausage - more meaty) and I like haggis! But then I probably eat it the way the more common way, with oatmeal, mince (hamburger) and spices. Delicious with neeps! (turnips).

How much do you want to bet that less than 10% of the people on this board (or any non-brit board) know what 'haggis' is.

Oh yes, absolutely tantalizing!

I think there's a jewish dish that's made with stuffed intestines... Actually, I think it's something like stuffed intestines stuffed with stuffed intestines... It's supposed to be very tasty .

I prefer all the yummy vegetarian restaurants in Portland!! Which reminds me, when I visited Portland a couple weeks ago I went to Burgerville and one of the employees said that their chicken and turkey sandwiches were made from free range chickens and turkeys -- wow!
Is that right? Has anyone else heard this about Burgerville?
I only spent a week in Portland so I didn't get a chance to go to many restaurants; Is it common for restaurants in Portland to offer meat from free range animals? I've never seen that before... Of course, I do live in Ohio...

I probably shouldn't say, since I've only been in town a few days, but I did get a flyer for a pizza place that apparently takes their "free-range" ingredients seriously.

Oh wait, would it be safe to assume that a menu offering for "free-range BBQ sauce" is being facetious? Should I be amused or offended?
