That's all we see on the news... oil pouring into the ocean right off our country's coast, dead wildlife, devastation of our southern beaches, fishermen who fear their livelihood is gone forever....
What exactly is it that you want to see that's not being shown, Sanrene???
What exactly is it that you want the administration to do?
See, that's you're problem. You believe far too much of what the news media decides to feed you. They cherry pick the most heart wrenching photographs of birds and turtles and little fishies to show you, meanwhile severely playing down any success BP may have had in their efforts, all to push their agenda.
It's so blatantly obvious what is going on here with regards to politics...

OMG
I'm speechless....

Close to 40% of the Gulf is closed to fishing. Restaurants are canceling whatever Gulf seafood orders they had. They ARE catching people fishing in closed waters.
This won't be fixed in 6 months or 6 years. The oil may be stopped but the Gulf will take a long, long time to recover.
You obviously have no clue what you are talking about. Finish up school and work in the real world for a little while; then we'll talk.
Explain it to me then oh wise one. Since you have made 2 assumptions about me in this post which are incorrect (I haven't been in school since 2008 (see my join date) and I have been employed fairly consistently since I finished school and during periods when I was in school).

You are SO right. The economic and health impact of this oil spill will be far reaching.

BP has been exposed for their business practices. People have already been replaced who worked in the government agency who should have been closely monitoring BP's operation and safety.

I agree. I don't know what can be done. The booms aren't working. Not well, anyway. BP has hired some people who are wiping down individual blades of grass while the oil still continues to wash ashore. And in the most sensitive areas, like in the estuaries pictured, a large scale human presence may do more harm than good. Those areas would not only be oil soaked, but trampled as well, which, from what I've read, would be equally devastating.
As depressing and infuriating as this is, I don't think there is much that can be done in the way of clean up while the oil continues to come ashore.
