It has become extremely obvious that this administration has weakened our security of this country after the shooting at Ft. Hood. Homeland Security, CIA and FBI all knew that this terrorist was reaching out to Al Qaeda and the Imam in Yemen but failed to do anything at all about it. This is worse than Bush supposedly knowing about 911 because in this case they had an individual pegged, knew where he was and what he was up to and still FAILED! Bleeding Heart Liberal Political Correctness and the stupidity of the administration going after the CIA for doing their jobs is to blame here. Be prepared for more of this kind of thing to happen. Obama doesn't have what it takes to be serious about this, he is going to get more US citizens killed.

I do agree that many Americans have gone overboard with political correctness...but imagine if you were one of the people on the wrong side of the tracks. If you were part of a group of people that had people doing wrong within it and you had to be treated unfairly because of it. It's easier to point fingers when you aren't part of the group.

Oh, please. The intelligence agencies had this guy on their radar, along with thousands of other individuals whose behavior and statements make them suspect. The intelligence agencies did not know what Hasan's intentions were, they only knew that a Major in the US Army, a doctor whose profession is dedicated to helping others, an American-born Muslim, was behaving in a suspicious, irrational manner and trying to get out of army service. Maybe he was putting these posts out there, maybe he was trying to contact Al Qaeda, maybe he proselytizing because he hoped that these things would get him booted from the Army. Remember Klinger from MASH, and the desperate measures he took trying to get himself booted? The intelligence agencies have no way to determine the motivations behind an individual's behavior, they simpy look for patterns, and then apply rational analysis to those patterns. Hasan's behavior was irrational, Hasan's actions don't make any sense, they were unreasonable.

how is this worse than Bush ignoring 9/11? Isn't it the responsibilty of the CIA & FBI to protect the nation? Nearly 3000 Americans lost their lives on 9/11 and Bush has the August 6th. memo and went on a 5 week vacation afterwards. How exactly was Obama supposed to prevent a nutcase like this from going on his rampage?
Supposedly this man took a oath to defend the US so just because he talked to a Iman doesn't neceesarily make him a known terrorist.
Perhaps the military should screen their recruits better since I can remember another nutcase named McVeigh.

Without going into great detail I think there's a fine line between our perceived "freedoms" that this country was founded upon and "political correctness"... I think the premise here is spot on. Our desire and our legal "obligation" to not make anyone feel bad makes us more vulnerable than most nations...

I don't look at poltical correctness as righting a wrong. To me, there is no victim that is being protected. Society just doesn't have the courage to call it like it is, and instead, have resorted to coddling and comforting those whose feelings are fragile. This attitude will doom this country.

So you are defending "Obamas" non action by pointing out Bush? I know, you wont admit thats what you are doing but it sure reads that way..

well it is coddling really because if you look at his record his superiors knew he was having mental issues but let's be honest here the military isn't known for treating troops with known mental afflictions.

edit: pgh my response was to the OP regarding Bush. He is trying to point out that this incedent was worse that 9/11 and in terms of the amount of lives & destruction it pales in comparison.

Yep;bascially no one in governamnt wants to do anything that might cause the political correctness cops out.The first thing they do is look at what society has done to make people cat as they do;instaed of saying that their are bad people who wish us harm.

Ugh,

Do you have any idea how many people the CIA and FBI are monitoring in this country right now? Probably in the 10's if not 100's of thousands.

If any number of them decided to grab some handguns, go into a crowded building and start shooting people, there would almost nothing that could be done to stop them.

There are two types of people who need to shut up, and you're one of them. You're one of those "OMG, we need to increase security" types. Get off of it, crazy people kill people sometimes, its an awful fact of life in a free society. The bastard was caught, he will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of military law, and most likely executed. That is the most we can do.
