It seems political correctness is getting very out of hand these days. Even the slightest phrases have the ability to insult a certain, race, gender, sexual orientation; that is obvious. But, having to choose wording so carefully as to not accidently insult someone who may or may not even be within earshot of what your are saying is becoming annoying.

What are your thoughts on being "politically correct?"

We've had this topic before numerous times, and we all 100% agree that political correctness is excellent.

The opposide of PC is not hate. There is nothing hateful about using the word 'black' instead of African American. The opposite of PC is simply speaking without allowing the most hypersensitive of sissies to police your language. It's not about letting the N word fly.

There is no such thing as Political Correctness. It is a right-wing phrase for 'politeness', which they seem to dislike.

I don't dislike anyone, if someone wants to call me __________ (insert here), it is up to them. I am tired of everyone trying so hard not to offend anyone. It drives me crazy. If you want to call me a cracker or whity, bimbo whatever, do it because it makes you look like the idiot, not me. So how can that affect me?

Kindly go back and edit this post. We don't use that word here. We say "persons with mental fitness differences."

I think that it's got more to do with not trying to hurt someone's feelings.

Also, being deliberately offensive makes the person doing it look like a fool.
