What's sad is Gov Paterson "saw" this coming and the state legislature didn't.
NY's State Legislature?? They are a pack of stooges !!! they are too busy lining their pockets with kickbacks to "see" anything. Same can be said for NJ.

Then show Obama how that works because he surely has no clue what a budget is.

Ask Bloomberg for a loan!!
When will they learn? Over-tax people and they pack up and move somewhere taxes are lower. When you lose the working taxpaying people you end up with a higher ratio of government dependent types.

EXACTLY what Obama wants and loves.

Government dependent people who then have to walk in line like little Obama sheep.

NY is an example of what Obama and this congress is doing to the entire country.

If this HC plan gets all the way through it will bankrupt this country even before Obama does.

The term "broke" does not even apply to Governments.

As long as it has the ability to collect taxes a government cannot go "broke".....lol

What you are incorrectly calling "broke" is merely a State cutting spending to match revenues. ( nothing apparently makes you happy)

[This is been yet another addition of middle school level economics for right wingers.]

Swing and a miss.

It was because of the economic downturn, specifically in the finanical industry, which led to a decline in State revenues.

why should a suffolk county cop (regular PO, not a shield) be making 120k?

why are the teachers making 100k

why do the sanitation workers make so much

unions have twisted the arm of the municapalities so much that we the peopel are being taxed to death....I pay 14k in property taxes a year, 9k of it to the schools , and i still have to send 'supplies' (to include toilet paper) in to school......why to you think people are FLEEING new york in droves???? because we are taxed to death by the robbing unions and their patrinage jobs
