I feel sad about the entire situation. What makes it worse is to know that many Americans have such a vitriolic desire for revenge and believe that "an eye for an eye" is the foundation for a good and peaceful society.
i feel no huge surge of remorse when a mass murderer is shot. without justice there is no forgiveness. where did all these over the top turn the other cheek christians come from???, why only when a rapist or murderer gets shot do they come out of the woodwork reproaching all with pleadings for forgiveness and leniancy? whats up with that?

In the midst of the murderous gunfire that sent soldiers at Fort Hood scattering, it was a civilian mother of two who ran towards the gunfire, taking down the shooter in a close range gunbattle that left both wounded.
Sgt. Kimberly Munley, who lives in Killeen, Texas, has been hailed a hero by Fort Hood base commander Lt. Gen. Robert Cone, who credited her today with bringing the massacre to an end and saving an untold number of lives.
In other articles, the Gen called her "young lady" - feh.
This is a woman.
So he minimizes her while praising her.
I think you're going overboard here.
"Young lady" is not an insult.
If he had said woman, someone would probably be attacking him for that.
And I don't see how "young lady" minimizes her accomplishment. Generals refer to soldiers as "young man" or "young lady" all the time. Older folks in general also use those phrases when reffering to people younger than them.
Soldiers are Army
Troops are Marines
Sailors are Navy
Airmen are Air Force
