People continue caring about Superintendent Cason's racism because it is ongoing, destructive to the school system, and because on a personal basis his racism is causing great harm to individuals who are discriminated against by Cason.
Front page, Valdosta Daily Times, July 13, 2010: Go to valdostadailytimes.com to read. Cason's racism raises it's hideous head again. The investigation of his current hatefilled actions will of course find him innocent of wrongdoing. The school board that backs him is also primarily made up of old-timey Valdosta racists, and the fact-finding people are primarily white southern men. Ya just cannot beat the system here, it's inbred, cultural, tradition-bound, and resistant to change. What a shame.
I will leave this area when my contract is up, but meanwhile it's hard to see and hear about uncivilized actions in what I was brought up to believe is the finest country on earth. Valdosta is not quite part of the free world.
