We actually can. Decades at least. Especially with all the other countries helping keep our expense down.

It's about time that countries stood up to The US. We have done so much HARM to many countries and it's payback time. We are not invincible, nor are we the greatest power by any means. The only reason we are "beating up" on Russia, China, and Iran is because they function better despite our lame efforts to make them seem "small" compared to us. Russia is prevailing in Ukraine, and Zelensky is dreaming out his backside if he thinks he will gain back any territory. Russia has patience, and far better weapons.

Patrick Lancaster on Youtube tells another story about why Putin began the special operation. Mainstream warmongers will NEVER share the truth. They want a perma war. There will be no John Wayne rescue. China has Russia's back. Russia has a lot of support from countries they have treated fairly, unlike the US that loves soft targets, and resources they can steal, not to mention installing leaders who will kiss their butts.

Of course they made it his damn business.

You are simply in denial.

Some people don't want the background story because it will shatter their illusions. I think Putin and Lavrov are way smarter than Biden, and gang. Putin gives great speeches. Russia is patient, and has formidable weapons. Zelensky is a fraud, not a hero. He demands more weapons, but they won't make any difference. Russia is destroying warehouses full. The US is throwing money down the drain.

Default Not Poor Russia

This will continue as long as sanctions are held in place. And sanctions will be in place for a long time.

Russia will announce the annexation of territories it occupies. and from that point on it will consider those areas to be Russian. Just like Crimea.
Russia will have failed to take Kiev and failed to take Odesa. NATO, in anticipation of future Russian aggression, has increased the required number of ready troops to 300,000. But because of sanctions, Russia may never be able to advance again.
Holding sanctions in place will destroy Russia and create a safer world.
US will suffer more. Russia will be fine. They banned GMO's. China has their backs if things get rough. China and Russia focused on practical matters while the US kept bombing people, and being run out of Afghanistan. US is NOT the greatest. It has fallen greatly in terms of morality and violence. The economy was hitting the skids long before Russia began to purge the "Nazzis" from Ukraine. Long live Russia, and the U.S. needs to get it's act together. All they know is AGGRESSION against countries that can't fight back effectively. Homeless people, mass shootings on a regular basis. It's a disgrace. Check out videos of Chinese military parades, and see if you think it's a good idea to agitate them, or Russia.

Or rather their convenient narrative.

I think in this case - yes.

Putin is very manipulative, he will exploit every weak spot of the Western govs, every controversy.

And Lavrov is no fool either.

When it comes to "Biden and gang," - I have an impression that they are inept - i.e. they don't have the kind of flexibility of mind that is required under the circumstances. They can operate only within the same guide-lines, as it was done for years before them, only following the same trends, the same pattern.

So far things are going his way, and Russians are patient.

They know what "Ukraine's affair" is all about, Putin or not.

Now when I think about it, he actually IS a fraud.

The way he lied to his constituents, comparably to what they hoped for and what he promised them - yes he is a fraud indeed.

This part is true too, although I think at certain point Kremlin will have to take certain things in consideration.

I expect the dust to settle in a couple of weeks.

One by one, Russians deemed insufficiently patriotic are being snatched up by security forces as the Kremlin tightens the noose. In Putin's Russia the arrests are spreading quickly and widely.
[...]
It appears to be a manifestation of President Putin’s declaration in the early weeks of his war in Ukraine that Russia needed to cleanse itself of pro-Western “scum and traitors,” and it is creating an unmistakable chill.
Quote:
They came for Dmitri Kolker, an ailing physicist, in the intensive care ward. They came for Ivan Fedotov, a hockey star, as he was leaving practice with a film crew in tow. They came for Vladimir Mau, a state university rector, the week he was re-elected to the board of Gazprom.

The message sent by these high-profile detentions: Nearly anyone is now punishable in Vladimir V. Putin’s Russia.

The background story to the Ukraine war must be carefully cut out and thrown down the memory hole because it doesn't follow the required narrative. You don't have to think, just follow this narrative. Others have done the thinking for you. If you try to think rationally then the narrative becomes confusing. Ignorance is indeed strength.

Russia is indeed destroying many weapons given to Zelensky by the West. But that is good because the weapons makers make good profits by having to sell more of them to the US. The US is indeed throwing money down the drain. But that doesn't matter. Why? The US can just print more money. It does have printing presses does it not?
