To think Russia isn't hurting is ludicrous. Just look at how much we were impacted by Covid which reduced trade and created shortages. And Russia doesn't have our manufacturing capacity and no longer has access to Europe for many items.
Of course it is hurting. Who is arguing otherwise? And the EU is hurting severely for obvious reasons.

All due the actions of one man who has what appear delusions of grandeur to be next Peter the Great. How many people are suffering and how many lives have been lost because of this one heinous person??
That isnt exactly true as I couldnt surrender to Nazi Germany, me and my family would have been killed. I would hope that I would have had the foresight to escape to another country prior to invasion.
None of us get our ideal form of government anyway. How much different would Russian governance be from a Democrat or Republican winning the US election? How much in Ukraine changes if it become a part of Russia?
Then you understand what the Ukrainians are facing.
They decided stand and fight for their country rather than run away like cowards. Each to their own.
As to none of us getting our ideal form of government, and being ruled by Putin is about the same as any other form of government, this nonsense keeps getting posted and I'm not sure why. It is total BS, and you know it.
Well let them defend themselves. Doesn't make sense to ask Americans to sacrifice lives for Poland and the Baltic states fears. If it means that much to them, then they can fight on their on.
You are sacrificing Ukraine to death and destruction instead of "sacrificing" them with a new government. The solution was to leave Ukraine to Russia and shore up defenses in surrounding countries.
The solution selected is intended to crush Russia to the point where it can never recover.
No need to shore up anyone, this way.
At any rate, it is taking hold.

Western sanctions, imposed to punish Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, that have disrupted imports and roiled supply chains where crucial foreign parts and goods came from. Not just the butt of Russian jokes, the new Lada is the latest in a growing number of examples showing the staggering transformation that Russia's economy is grappling with, on a scale not seen in at least a generation.
Smartphones aren't working properly. Food packaging has to be printed without labels. Clothing factories can't find buttons to sew on shirts.
I'm referring to those whom keep pushing this send in NATO forces narrative. I understand Baltic nations and Polish fears, but please drop the "we're scared of Russia come and fight them for us" stance. The reason they have to push it because they don't stand a chance in a match up against Russia. If you need someone else to fight for you, please be quite.
Ironically there are some Americans over there. Three have been captured. There are risk with volunteering to fight a war.

Taiwan and Japan can just about be considered vassal states of the U.S. New Zealand is a English offshoot, and Singapore use to be a English colony. So while technically these nations aren't Western, from a political and economic perspective I understand why they would be lumped into the western category.
The drone which caused the explosion and fire at the oil refinery near Rostov in Russia, not far from its border with Ukraine, is reported to be a Russian model which the Ukrainians captured somehow and then reprogrammed for use against Russia. It worked.
There was a reason you see why Ukrainians were fighting side by side with Russians against the Hitler's army ( except for the Western part of Ukraine.)
So to compare what Ukrainians are facing under the "Russian management" to what they were facing under the "German management" is ridiculous to say the least.
Go Russia. "Marginally less evil than Nazi Germany", there's a ringing endorsement.
