Crime in NYC is so low that Multiple NYPD Cops Can go to Restaurants to Demand to See Child’s Vaccine Papers (Congress, healthcare)

They were using their kids as shields!
THis is just too gross!
Even BLM protestors don't bring their kids along if they are doing something that they know they will be arrested for.
There are just no words for sickos like this.
I don't care how much you are against the vaccine - don't use your children as your sword.
They have pulling the same stunt at this and other restaurants in this mall. And getting arrested.
Now they bring their little ones.
But that's not the way it works. The people were being trespassed, outside of the reasoning for the trespass falling under being a member of a protected class (e.g. race), a private company can trespass whoever they want for nearly whatever reason they want. The police absolutely should do their duty and obey the wishes of the private property owner/rep and ask (and then forcefully remove) someone that the private property owner doesn't want on their property. This is why the officer said (and this is from the OP's original post):
Except it isn’t the restaurant doing this on their own accord; it’s because they have to follow the government edict or risk getting shut down.
No attempt to rationalize this makes it acceptable.

They were NOT arrested (or threatened to be arrested) for not displaying their vaccine cards.
You missed the part where the cops asked for vaccine papers.

I never said they were. However you missed the part where the cops asked for vaccine papers.
The broader question is what "this" in your second sentence is referring to. I'd argue that it's the govt's ability to proclaim such edicts as the true problem. That the police are enforcing trespass requests _is_ acceptable, as that is their responsibility to do so. They asked for their vaccine papers since that was the reason cited by the owners as the motivation behind the trespass request (i.e. if they did produce the proof of vaccine, then the owner/rep's reasoning to trespass them would no longer exist).
All this fussing at the police is exactly what the politicians want. Throw other folks under the bus, make those folks the target of the publics ire, while they themselves continue to pass questionable/illegal laws and continue to get re-elected. Politics 101 and the public keeps falling for it.

What makes you think I don’t hold the government employing the police responsible?
Not reality. You get a supervisor who is told by above to do this. Then that supervisor tells his cops. Yeah you can disobey an order. You will be suspended and then fired. No one from city data will ever hear about it. Cops are not going to lose their jobs, health insurance and pension to appease you.
If every cop is against it and they all walk .. what happens?
At what point will the cops say:
"No. I cannot in good conscience do what I am being asked to do."
What ORDER will it take? Because it will happen, sooner or later, they will have to make a choice. Or, maybe they will just terrorize the citizens in their neighborhoods by continuing to "do what they are told"?
