I'm trying to remember the last time I was in a movie theater. I think it was The Others. What year was that? 2000 maybe? So I haven't been to a movie theater for 20 years or so. Of course, it has been about that long since a decent movie was made. The Others is among the newest movies in my DVD collection. I have a few newer ones, but not many. It's kind of like music... the newer stuff generally sucks bigtime.
I remember seeing Rocky 5 in the cinema.
That was the Rocky film reviewers and viewers hated the most.
But the opening credits showed highlights of the Drago-Balboa fight, but they made it black and white, and they enhanced the punches so it sounded like bombs going off in the cinema.
That is the best thing I've ever seen in a cinema.
And the film itself was a lot better than its reviews, because Stallone's real life son (Sage Stallone) was playing Rocky's son, and he did a tremendous job.
And the actor playing Tommy Gunn, was the real life boxer Tommy Morrison, and not surprisingly he was very convincing too.
Wouldn't it be interesting if movie theaters started showing some old great movies on the big screen?
I think it was back in the 90's or even the 00's that Gone with the Wind was "re-released" to theaters. It was kinda cool to finally see that movie in a theater.

I remember when theaters use to do that, Disney movies, gone with the wind, they stopped after movies started coming out on video tapes then you could rent or but the movies and watch them at home.

One of my local theaters, actually the same one I visited yesterday, has done this for a few years.
Prior to the shutdowns, they ran a different old movie every week.

There's a great historic theatre in Nashville that frequently shows series of older movies. Starting a few years ago, I take my kids there every Christmas to see It's a Wonderful Life, which they've said is now one of their favorite movies. They're aged 17-24, and they all teared up at the end when we watched it the first time.
I was very sad when the cinemas were closed during the peak of the quarantine. But I found a way out, I bought a powerful projector that can broadcast on the street and in the house. And I liked this solution. Now the best cinema I have at home.
Yay! Another superhero movie!
Yay! Another Fast & Furious movie!
Yay! Another crappy Star Wars movie to further destroy the franchise!
Yay! Another remake or reboot or new timeline or whatever for some '80s story!
I love going to the theater but I don't go very often anymore because movies these days are exactly this. Since around 2012 or so, creativity in film has taken a nosedive as Hollywood has shifted to such strong focus on reboots of old films and sequels to old films that nobody asked for. The past five years or so have been the absolute worst.

PureFlix and other faith-based films just aren't very good. That said, even God's Not Dead was shown in a theater as was Courageous and Fireproof and they were all very successful.
I stopped going when cinemas made you choose a seat beforehand. I got stuck near some doozies who I never would have sat next to if I could have just walked in and chosen my seat after paying.
I also dislike everyone talking on their phones. Rude.
