With Sears closing at the Westfield Topanga mall I have heard rumors of an Archlight or other movie theater chain taking over the Sears building.

Anyone have anymore info?

I have heard these rumors from cheesecake factory employees at Westfield Topanga as well as from SEARS employees. I called the leasing rep for Westfield Topanga and asked them about the movie theater in the Sears building and they told me maybe.

ArcLight is awesome, and I'd certainly welcome another location from them, but it'd be surprising if they did that.

An archlight in the west San Fernando valley would give that run down amc promenode a run for its money.

there's already ArcLights in paseo del mar and sherman oaks galleria. I like 'em.

pros about ArcLight:
no pre-movie adverts (but still movie previews)
if you hate [noisy] kids, their pricing gentlly discourages children in their theatre (ie no discount for kids, anything over age 1 needs a ticket)
more liberal (carry in food from place nextdoor) food policy

cons:
tickets have crept up to $15.75
no matinee/early bird discounts like AMC

for a brief moment, paseo del mar would sell you a drink but force you to drink it in the "bar". They figured out some 21+ yr olds were delivering drinks to their jailbait younger dates already seated in row G.

I heard that the Sears building will be torn down and a parking structure will be built on the corner of the mall to accomadate the movie theater parking
