I think a much better indicator of how well the U.S. is doing regarding people in poverty is tracking how many people have SNAP benefits. In 2018, 12% of household had some SNAP benefits. In January 2021, that figure that increased to 15.1%.

They fall off usually, but they have measures to determine how many are still looking for work and who has given up. This report doused the inflation scare pretty significantly. Here is a good analysis of the employment report.

Obviously not all unions are pro Democrat, but many of the biggest ones are. Democratic Party policies are killing union jobs, and still, many of the unions support Democrats like little robots, even after Democrat policies destroy their jobs.

Very big bust. Yesterday I was reading a prediction that the number might be over 1 million. Instead only 266,000? It's baffling how these forecasters could be so wrong. If the stimulus checks are keeping people from taking jobs, then the "experts" should have seen that coming.

But did you read the US Steel letter......they realized it was a better business decision.

End of story.

And they feel that they will be in a better place to continue to add jobs and provide employment opportunities in the area with their new business plan.

Yes and no.

My Job had 4 open positions last month at $10 an hour. We actually need 8 people but it is what it is.

No one applied, because you can make more money either at home or applying somewhere else.

Why make $10 here, when you can make $15 at home, or 17$ at other places.

I dont fault people for not being stupid, LOL

Also, it cost money to advertise open positions, so my company took those 4 positions down. It looks like we added 4 jobs in March, and removed them in April, but its a net overall change of 0.

The economist, would have expected us to add the other 4 to get up to 8, but the lack of interest at $10, just meant we went the other way.

US Steel ends plans for $1.5B Pennsylvania plant upgrades

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pittsburgh-based United States Steel Corp. said Friday that it is canceling a $1.5 billion project to bring a state-of-the-art improvement to its Mon Valley Works operations in western Pennsylvania, saying the world has changed in the two years since it announced its intentions.

Project permits initially stalled by the pandemic never came through, U.S. Steel has added capacity elsewhere, and now it must shift its focus to its goal of eliminating greenhouse gas emissions from its facilities by 2050, it said.

The loss of what would have been one of the largest industrial investments in Pennsylvania quickly led to recriminations by Pittsburgh-area politicians, labor unions and business organizations over why the project could never secure permits. Some worried it will diminish the future of steelmaking there.

The morons in Pennsylvania elected Biden, they got what they deserved. So many union jobs are being destroyed by Biden. But will the unions stop voting Democrat? No, because they are stupid.
They didn't ACTUALLY elect him but I get the idea.

The article does not mention Biden. In fact, what it does say is that a Steel Company in another state was building a factory before the pandemic and that it will be online soon and US Steel wont be able to catch up.

This also wasnt an expansion so no permanent jobs would have been created, in fact, they would have most likely been lost when it came to efficiency.(again, stated in the article)

I feel like you posted this link and didnt actually read it.

That's unfortunate. I was expecting the momentum if the last few months would continue. Seems like the economic recovery is stalling a little bit.

There is a long way to go to reach the 3.5% unemployment reported under the previous administration prior to the plandemic, but hoping we stay on track.
