No Trump fan here, definitely think our president sets a very bad example on all things related to civility. However, I’m going to take a flying leap and am willing to bet this guy is not a Trump idolizer - I’ll even bet he’s the exact opposite. That’s sounds just like someone who got caught doing something wrong and throws out the “..... but (insert name of someone they detest) does blah blah so I should be able to get away with this totally unacceptable thing” defense.
You know I’m right.
I also think this is the more likely scenario.
And, you know I cannot stand Trump, so there ya go.
Either that, or he's got such serious mental problems that he'd be doing this anyway, but tried to justify it with some crazy idea that does not justify it.
Either way, Donald Trump didn't make him do this.

You can call it kindergarten. I call it hypocrisy.
My perspective when I hear that is the problem is being identified and admitted but the it should continue because members of all political parties do it.

I would agree on this but to a lesser extent trump has made it ok for people to attack others if they don't like something. Take the women who went off on the family in a Virginia restaurant becuase they weren't speaking english ,she went on for ten mins even after she was told they were tourist and didn't speak english and were speaking to each other by the person who was their host. Lots of examples of calling the Police on kids or blacks doing everyday things and all most all of them(maybe all) are white people doing the attacking or complaining.

Hypocrisy is if it were ok for one president and not the other. Both presidents got flak and neither really paid for it. One presidents behavior doesn't excuse the other.
Certainly it doesn't mean we shouldn't call it out. or not talk about it. It absolutely doesn't mean one needs to call out all past cases to bring it up for discussion.
Learn what hypocrisy means....
