A Comparison of the Tax Burden on Labor in the OECD
June 19, 2014

For all the caterwauling about how much better Sweden is, because they gibs the free stuff, you to can pretend your are in Sweden.

With an average wage of $52,222 you will pay 31.3% in taxes if you include the employer payroll taxes which, like it or not, comes out of your paycheck even if you never see it.

In any event earning $52,222 your take home pay will be $36,564. You will take home 70%.

Now pretend you're Swedish about 43%, $22,455, is going for taxes and you end up with $29,767.

That free healthcare is costing you $$6,797 or $566 monthly.

Meanwhile the new rates for the Silver Plan area:

2016: Monthly Benchmark Silver Premiums for a 40 Year Old Non-Smoker Making $30,000 / Year

Connecticut $328
DC $248
Maine $290
Maryland $246
Michigan $226
New Mexico $171
New Yor (New York City) $372
Oregon $248
Vermont $476
Virginia $288
Washington $228

And you claim you can not afford it?

Take your own advice and go live in your utopia if it exists anywhere. Take that HappyTexan who hasn't probably smiled in six years, with you.

No, Obama EXTENDED big pharma's hold over drugs for 8 more years.
No, no, no! It's big pharma in bed with Booooosh and Cheney and don't forget it was Richard Nixon that started this whole thing.

I wonder if Sweden has a free cell phone program.
Depending on where you live, cost of living is lower in Sweden than in some U.S. regions and cities
