The Mill. may be the smartest Generation. They are required to learn more math and science, learn more in the form of a second language (computer). While the right wants to limit them to dumbed-down education and the boomers not wanting to understand we need to help pay for for public education.

So this entire tread is an attempt to create a wedge issue.

We need to hire her in Philadelphia.

Have you heard about AZs abysmal education system?

The Superintendent is a tea party candidate who ran on the single issue of the evil Common Core, is being attempted to be recalled, is suing the board of education who is also suing her and is getting into slap fights with the board of directors (literally).

She's not a liberal and she is Superintendent of Public Education for the State of Arizona. Our genius voters elected a stained glass shop owner to run a public education system because
1. She's a Republican
2. She opposes Common Core.
3. Well, that's it really. She ran against a qualified ******* who lost on that basis.

critical thinking tends to focus only on conservative priniciples, at least it was when I was in college and went to a liberal university in Philadelphia. ( clue...cherry and white). I failed a humaties class ( I.H. 52 ) because I did not parrot back to the professor ( a leftist baby boomer ) what HE wanted to hear about communism.

Critical thinking should focus on any idea left or right.

Lets be specific. The Democratic peoples republic of North Korea.

Theres nothing socialism based there really. Its also not a democracy per se-despite the name.

Nah what folks are talking about is not socialism. And yet...they keep trying to claim it is. Why?

Are your arguments so poor that you have to lie or mislead people?

well... I would say that the boomers are surely the biggest batch of spoiled brats the world has yet seen...

stupid certainly is in play. now the tell will be if the Millennials will recognize the pit these Progs and their Boomer allies dug for them and refuse to willingly jump into it.

That test showed that Millennials lag behind international peers. There is a clear distinction between being dumber than fellow generations and being compared to other international Millennials. It would seem that the decline of American superiority and the rise of International competition (specifically Asia) would make us 'laggards' internationally. But that's not the premise of the thread, nor does your article prove anything beyond that Millennials lag behind international and other fellow Millennials.

The premise of this thread is the Millennials (Not Millenniums lol) are America's Most Stupid generation. A more proper study would be to see how Millennials compare to other generations w/n America, or how (although there would be some issues of the comparison) previous generations scored against international peers adjusted for the fact that other countries are rapidly advancing.

What is a proper showing from this test, however, is that our education infrastructure is quickly falling behind our international peers and this is a key issue for the future.

Which is the disease. Trying to get rid of common core is trying to fix a symptom, as is pushing students away from public school options and overflooding the existing charter and private schools.

U.S. public schools educate only 26% of all public school students to even basic grade-level proficiency in math, 38% in reading, by 12th grade.

NAEP - Mathematics and Reading 2013

That in and of itself is bad enough, but pay very careful attention to the much lower basic proficiency percentages for Black students.

Black students' basic math proficiency percentage by 12th grade: 7%
Basic reading proficiency percentage by 12th grade: 16%

Are Black students really innately that incapabale? I don't believe so.

But Blacks overwhelmingly and repeatedly keep voting for Dems who won't let them have school vouchers to escape their horrendous public schools. Why? The teachers unions want job protection. And they get it from the voucher-opponent Dems.

Time to end the Democrats' stranglehold on education, and give students vouchers. Let each student go to the best school they can get into and are willing to attend, exactly like our college/university system works, even at the state (public) level. Our college/university system is the best in the world, but our K-12 is abysmal because students are trapped. They don't get to choose based on their motivation and ability.
One of the best posts I've seen on CD, well said.

On a personal note...I have four kids, they're all home schooled. We did send one of our daughters to public school, at her request, for a year. She was bored out of her mind, everything was "too easy". Read that how you will.

I push my kids to learn and I guess it's paying off.
