The US only has 546 billionaires. How many years do you think they can pay for all your "wishes" ?

546 people are going to pay for every 18 year old in the US to go go college for 4 years every year.
Really ?

546 people are going to pay every year to keep SS and medicare funded for every American every year.
Really ?

And all when these 546 people trade stocks ? (transaction tax).
What if they don't trade stocks ?
What if they decide to up and leave the US and take their money with them. (a few have already done this).

Obama can't even get consensus from his own party and that's why he rules by EO and memos.

Bernie promised that those 546 people will be the only ones paying into this plan?

Are you sure that every 18 year old in America will be going to college?

As Paul Krugman writes, "Denmark has combined high taxes and strong social benefits (free college, heavily subsidized child care, and more) with strong employment and high productivity. It shows that strong welfare states can work."

So what makes conservatives so unAmerican -- thinking that Denmark can accomplish things that just aren't possible in America?

Cough over 40% of your income to the FedGov and your vision of Utopia is possible.

Which person running for President in either party is going to raise income taxes to pay for these social program ?

NONE

"Tax the rich" is how they plan to pay.

In Denmark they all pay..rich and poor.

So how can you possibly compare that.

No..compare Venezuela before Chavez came in.
He was giving everyone all they wanted and the rich would pay.

How did that work out for Venezuela a mere 6 or 7 years later ?

Liberals fight against the U.S. taxing regressively, which would place the largest tax burden on the middle class and poor, and fight against allowing rich Americans to legally hide income and capital gains in foreign accounts so that it's all tax-free (repeal FATCA law), both things that Denmark does and allows.

That's why we can't have similar nice things in America.

Look at where Denmark is in this chart:

And read the article, citing the research:

How Sweden and Denmark fight inequality - regressive, not progressive taxes

First, Venezuela is a third world nation. Thinking that Venezuela has any comparison to the U.S. or even Denmark, is flawed.

Second, taxes aren't the worst thing in the world. I have to pay for a good portion of my health care out my pocket; I have to pay $80,000 a year for each child in college; when they were younger, I had to pay for their care out-of-pocket; (and, Denmark has a stronger safety net.) So, if all that was covered by government, why would I mind higher taxes?
