ORLANDO (Reuters) - Diners at a Florida restaurant chain are being asked to pay a health insurance surcharge on their meal tabs to cover the cost for business owners of the Obama administration's new healthcare program.
Customers at eight Gator's Dockside restaurants dotted around central and north Florida are finding a 1 percent surcharge on their bills listed as "ACA," the letters standing for the Affordable Care Act, popularly known as Obamacare.

LOL. I think if you are willing to pay $15 for a salad and tea, a 13 cent surcharge is not going to make you vote republican. Obviously political ploy and that is what will cost them customers--not a surcharge of a couple of cents.
Either they are going to hurt their business by chasing away more liberal voters, or they know their clientele are mostly Republicans who hate the ACA anyway
We have had the "healthy sf" aka what my friend's and I call the 4% Jack fee for years.
It annoys me because they are attempting to make it a political issue instead of raising their prices. It is a sleight of hand. And if this company is anything like the SF restaurants, months from now we are going to uncover this fee went straight to the bottom line and not towards health care costs.
