If we want to tackle the debt, the solution is simple - cut spending and raise revenue. Only cutting spending is clearly a terrible idea that even those who claim to support know won't work. If you scratch the surface, you discover that they want to spend more on the bits of government pork they find tasty.
What is magical about taking in more money?

Cuts sound nice until you specify where you want to cut.

No. I think blind cuts are stupid. Some programs are far more bloated then others. I support cuts, across the board. I think it should be done responsibly instead of blindly.

I think we need a flat tax on all income above 30k, and end corporate taxes completely.

Getting the economy back to full employment will pretty much take care of the debt and deficits and the spending necessary to do that can be financed entirely off budget by the Federal Reserve.

Something tells me if we cut welfare completely, people wouldn't starve.

They might get the motivation to feed themselves if their supply was cut off.

I agree! We all know there will be those who are old or very ill who can not do this, but to get them addicted to hand-outs is obviously causing a bigger problem then we could have ever imagined!

That does not seem to be working. With the fed adding 2 triliion and growing to its budget we are still in the 7% range. How much QE do you think the fed will have to implement to get back to full employment?
