For the life of me, other than admitted politics, why are we still discussing Benghazi? Our embassy was attacked, some people lost their lives, we probably should have had better security. Is there anything else to discuss? It's not like the place was in downtown Boca Raton and the attack was a surprise.

Hillary will run in 2016. Probably win. Politicians on both sides of the isle will continue to serve themselves. The little people will pay the bill.

I guess conservatives just haven't figured out step 2 yet.
That's what all my Republican friends sound like when discussing this. Maybe another version is: Benghazi!.... Muslims...Obama leaves office! They're just so convinced Obama is an evil socialist Muslim mastermind that wanted Chris Stevens dead, for whatever unknown reasons.

I followed this pretty closely. I missed the moment when it was revealed as a fact that the president "sent Rice out to lie"...
the buck stops at the presidency. You think 5 days after the attack the president did not know rice was headed for the news shows. If the president is that far out of touch he is incompetent , if he knew and sent rice out he is a fool

Rice's comments reflected the CIA talking points.

You are right. Both Democrats and Republicans. So why do the Democrats have such an issue with it?

So the president did not know his UN ambassador was headed for talk shows and further did not know what she was going to say. So that means he is out of touch and incompetent

The way I see it, Katrina wrecked Mississippi and Alabama as well as Louisiana.

Kinda makes it a federal emergency. One that dubya fumbled pretty badly. But I agree that Nagin and Blanco weren't up to their tasks, either. Didn't both get voted out in the following elections?
That was sort of my point. The Dem narrative on Katrina places sole blame for all failures on Bush, but spares any criticism of Blanco and Nagin. Yes, both were voted out, as they should've been. There is no doubt is was a federal emergency, and I admit mistakes were made at all levels. Bush owned the federal failures. You can delegate authority, but not responsibility. That also doesn't mean that federal relief efforts were not hampered by ineffective state and local government agencies. You mentioned Mississippi, funny how they recovered quickly, despite having as much devastation as Louisiana did. They also had Haley Barbour, a Republican governor that leaned forward in the saddle, was proactive, and didn't hinder federal relief efforts like Blanco did.
