Bizarre! Some people just LOVE being lied to, I guess:

Large-Capacity Gun Permits Soar in Watertown - Watertown, MA Patch (Jan. 22, 2013 article).

"The Beretta 92 pistol. The SPAS-12 shotgun.

These are examples of the types of large-capacity firearms for which permits have increased 22 percent in Watertown since 2008, according to state records. Ownership permits for smaller-capacity firearms have moderately fluctuated.

'Large-capacity' firearms are defined by the state of Massachusetts as semi-automatic handguns or rifles with the capacity of more than 10 rounds of ammunition in their magazines and shotguns capable of having more than five shells."

What the? I knew MA was a bit of a leftwing nuthouse, but a permit to own common handguns or shotguns? Not concealled carry, but just to own them? No wonder they were picked as a target for terrorists, they probably figured there was no one there but disarmed victims ripe for slaughter. Sounds like that wasn't too far from the truth.

Hannity must have meant if someone has a gun in a gun free zone. I never heard that the government had passed a law saying people in a city would be arrested if found to have a gun.

I don't know what the laws are in my city, they may be the same thing. Do you know the laws in your city? I see the gun free zone sign in many places we go to but not sure what the penality is if you take a gun in there.

Good to see you finally realized that Hannity misled you.

Maybe there needs to be a sticky in this forum to instruct people how to source. I've seen several similar threads like this one in this forum that shows confused people passing along misinformation and gossip. It must scare you guys.

Oh, for crying out loud. Put your adult panties on and either debate something or ignore it. No one is forcing you to post here. Some sure do like to post snarky comments though. Nothing stops them from doing that, no matter what topic it is.

"Permits"?

No thanks.

No, I'm sure Hannity meant exactly what you reported he said.

It was just a lie, like so much of what he says. You need to admit that you were wrong and be more careful with what you post.

Can a mod change the title to this thread to "Janelle heard something false on Hannity and reports it as if it's truth despite being told multiple times that she is incorrect"? Don't want anyone who doesn't want to read through the thread to be tricked, though it seems like the usual suspects are out in droves.

I commute through Watertown some days, almost lived there, go to the Arsenal Mall and Target fairly regularly, and have many friends who live there (yes, some with guns!). There is no such sign. Can people who DON'T live in Massachusetts and have no interest in actually looking up our laws stop speculating when they've taken no time to do any research whatsoever?

I grew up in Watertown and I had a Firearm Identification Card before I had a license to drive. Of course Watertown was a lot more blue collar then (late 70's). But even now, the only thing standing in your way is that it is up to the discretion of the police chief and he cannot be arbitrary about it. If you are an upstanding citizen you shouldn't have a problem.
