federal INCOME taxes are at some of their lowest "rates"
but federal "all types" of taxes at at some of the highest
Please quantify. I said it the way I did because rates are all over the place but generally lower. The ordinary income rate for the those earning less than $400,000/$450,000 are exactly the same as under Bush and lower than Clinton. The top income rate is only as high as Clinton's. The capital gains rate is 20%, not the Bush 15% rate but lower than Clinton and Reagan's rates.
Overall, we are near the lowest rates in modern times -- rates where there is no evidence is a lag on the economy.
It is indeed difficult to believe those numbers and given the media turned propaganda machine for Obama makes those numbers evne more suspect. The media tried to create a fake movement by declaring a small fringe group the 99% so it is with a huge dumptruck load of salt that I hear this news.
Depends on how the question was asked. could be smoke and mirrors to get that 60%.
Logic screams there is no way Obama can hacve such high approval.
The media will overstep its enthusiasm and blow its creation of a fantasy world surrounding Obama. A glimpse of that happened when Obama received the nobel peace prize.
Actually, it's a decent economy...stock markets are soaring to record highs and anyone with half a brain is seeing their net worth going way up. My portfolio has gone up more than 200% since Obama took office.
Unemployment is a bit high, but at least it's below 8%.
Taxes are low. Lower than any time other than the past 10-15 years.
And actually, since the marginal brackets have been increased since 2008, at my same salary I actually have a 4% lower INCOME tax burden than I did in 2008.
A person making $40,000 in 2008 would have paid $6,343.35 in federal income tax.
A person making $40,000 in 2013 would have paid $5,928.35 in federal income tax, 6.54% less than in 2008.
A person making $75,000 in 2008 would have paid $15,093.35 in federal income tax.
A person making $75,000 in 2013 would have paid $14,678.35 in federal income tax, 2.75% less than in 2008.
So do you have any more nonsense to TROLL about? Why do you constantly post these trolling threads blaming "liberals" for everything, even things that are completely imaginary?
So since January of 2009, unemployment has fallen, taxes have gone down, stocks have skyrocketed and you're surprised that the president who was JUST REELECTED has high approval ratings?
I didn't vote for him and am not a huge fan of his policies (especially the form Obamacare took and his massive spending on subsidies, his continuation of the drug war and the bloated military budget), but I understand his approval rating because the country IS better off than 4 years ago. MUCH better off. January of 2009 we were in the midst of a massive crash, in January of 2013 we're in the midst of one of the biggest stock market rallies in memory as well as a time when many companies are reporting record profits.
Yeah, I can believe it. He got re-elected, which indicated to me that the American public doesn't care so much about competence or integrity anymore. We now have two generations of citizens raised in the welfare state. The lesson from Obama being re-elected is that facts don't matter. Romney ran on facts, Obama ran on demonization and lies. Obama won. So yes, we're now in negative economic growth and unemployment is once again rising, but so what? "Obama cares about me and my problems"

You can't believe it because you congregate with people who believe like you (people who dislike Obama) and get your information from "news" sources that dislike Obama. So when a poll, conducted in a statistically valid way reveals that Pres. Obama has a 60% approval rating, you no doubt contend the validity of the poll instead of questioning your information sources.
It's really no different when conservatives were so surprised that their conviction that Romney would win in a landslide turned out to be wrong. Those people, in a closed group, repeat the same things to each other reinforcing their own opinions. In warfare it's called "Incestuous amplification" -- "A condition in warfare where one only listens to those who are already in lock-step agreement, reinforcing set beliefs and creating a situation ripe for miscalculation."
So, instead of stepping back, these people double-down on wrong, reject the information, making excuses for why they are really right.
