Unlike Europe and misc. arab countries, Israel has a strong enough military that it has little to no need for America to send troops. The Israelis did well enough in 1948 by themselves while be attacked on numerous fronts and they did well enough in all the other years that no foriegn army was called to aid them. This time around they will most likely tell the UN and Egypt to go f**k themselves.

They've already put in a call to the UN.

Israel Hayom | Palestinians ask Security Council to stop Israel

And the response is in. Ban Ki-Moon is flying to Israel on Tuesday.

Why don't we offer the Palestinians land in one of the huge Western states (Utah?) that wants to secede?

We've had bilateral relations with Israel since 1948. Like it or not, they're an ally. Mutual defense treaty or no, the world sees Israel and the Unite States as allies, and that's the point of view the rest of the world will act from if we leave Israel hanging.

This move was justified by Israel. The past few days Hamas has been firing into Israel, so Israel took out the guy primarily responsible for coordinating the attacks. Rational and just move on their part.

If this had anything remotely to do with human rights, we would be fighting on the African continent.

Or maybe the Canadians could give them a big swath of land in the northern reaches of Canada --- they don't need to live on a sliver of land in the Middle East.

We have "bilateral relations" with China and Russia, are they our allies too?

They are already in the US in Jacksonville Fl. They prefer the warmer climate.
