Why do these guys think that they won't eventually be found out? Armstrong maintains his innocence but won't fight charges made by the US Anti-Doping Agency.

"The USADA -- a quasi-government agency recognized as the official anti-doping agency for Olympic, Pan American and Paralympic sports in the United States -- has accused Armstrong of using, possessing, trafficking and giving to others performance-enhancing drugs, as well as covering up doping violations."
http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/23/sport/...html?hpt=hp_t1

"Armstrong insisted his decision is not an admission of drug use, but a refusal to enter an arbitration process he believes is improper and unfair to athletes facing charges. 'USADA cannot assert control of a professional international sport and attempt to strip my seven Tour de France titles,' he said. 'I know who won those seven Tours, my teammates know who won those seven Tours, and everyone I competed against knows who won those seven Tours."

He always seemed like a turd, but he did do great things for cancer research and awareness.

No question he was doping, but so was the rest of the sport. Had he raced clean he would have been beaten by someone else who was doping.

It is no real surprise to anyone who follows the sport, we've known the entire upper echelon of the sport doped all through the 90's into the early 00's.

Why does the USADA exist? Who gives that much of a crap about this that anyone needs to fund such an organization?

Edit: All the USADA can do is "make a recommendation" for his titles to be stripped, it's still up to the international body to make that decision.

The agency can impose a lifetime ban and recommend Armstrong be stripped of his titles. That would put the question in the hands of the International Cycling Union, which has disputed USADA's authority to pursue the investigation and Tour de France officials, who have had a prickly relationship with Armstrong over the years.

If they have proof, why don't they release the samples?

Or, is it guilty by association? Guilty because x & y said you did it? How many times can a person contend they are innocent.

The suggestion that he has doped is one thing (because everyone else did/was)... the evidence is another.

Also, wouldn't the UCI have to call the shot on whether he is stipped? What authority does USADA have on an international sporting body?!

armstrong has been accused of doping before, and they have found NOTHING to indicate that he was doping, or doing anything else illegal. i guess he got tired of defending himself all the time.

Has there ever been an athlete that has been tested more than Armstong?
Has he ever failed a test? It's absurd to take away what he earned without evidence.

Refusing to defend ones self until the end of time against specious doping allegations is considered an admission of guilt? That just seems wrong.
