Unfortunate side effects are attached to this amendment but we'll see how it plays out. NC already had a law outlawing gay marriage, but now the amendment basically bans civil unions too.
On top of that, the Republican State House Speakerr (Rep. Tillis) who helped draft this even said "this will be overturned most likely in 20 years" yet still put it out. And the exit polls agree where the crowd under 35 voted against this amendment. The "40 years" picture earlier in this thread is spot on.
To my gay friends and fellow state residents!! Why are you so obsessed with embracing an archaic, declining institution that will be obsolete in about 30 years!! Straight folks have been running away from this bondage for decades!!
That is, without exception, the single most crazy idea I've ever seen posted on this forum.
People are either straight, gay, or bi. They're going to have sex, usually, but not always, choosing their partners based upon their orientation.
Gay marriage will have exactly ZERO impact on disease patterns. To suggest otherwise is downright batty.
you have to be the dumbest person in the world if you don't think there are higher % of people who have had homosexual relation in the past decade as opposed to 50 to 60 years ago.
once you understand that fact you should be able to understand what I said.
In theory, isn't a person's right to marry anyone (or even anything) they please a matter of personal liberty/responsibility, and thus TECHNICALLY restricting their right to do so is unconstitutional?
Yep, you gotta love hypocrites.
