at least the government is ELECTED by the people and it's main duty is the represent the people (though that doesn't always happen) and their main purpose is to help fix societal problems and help guide society. (and it doesn't always do this) but at least its the SETUP PURPOSE of the govenrment.
corporations answer TO THEMSELVES and the people DO NOT ELECT them and their sole purpose is SIMPLY to make money.. their PURPOSE has NOTHING TO DO with bettering society... sure they create jobs, but that's a BYPRODUCT of the whole making money thing.. it's not their purpose.
also, corporations already practically RUN a good portion of the government (you know that evil thing to be paranoid of)
why are people paranoid of the government but NOT CORPORATIONS?
makes no sense.
So you really still believe "the people" elect the representatives and not the corporate interests who buy them with campaign contributions?
Corporations answer to their shareholders.
An ethical government filled with men and women of good character could not be corrupted by corporations. Elected officials in general are greedy, love the power, position and perks derived from being part of the "political elite" and as thus, are easily "bought".
I'll agree that a single payer national health care system would really set this
country free, that's for sure. Especially for small business.
How does single payer with the government as the ultimate say in provision of the services "set this country free" rather than inslave individuals to the government from womb to grave?
this whole thing about choosing to give money to corporations in a myth
you give a lot of money to corporations beyond buying products via government contracts. in many cities, corporations handle the public water and/or sewer systems, plus of course electricity and natural gas.
today, most of our tax dollars are funneled to huge corporations. it is not right to inherently trust these corporations -- they aren't competing for your dollar like a fast food place.
When the elected members of congress do not follow orders (the constitution), they are therefore invalid in my opinion and resistance to their unlawful power is necessitated.
As for corporations, they have bought & sold our politicians via special interest groups.
How much separation is there between corporations and governments?
These days? I would say very little.
Which is why if you reduce government power, you reduce corporation power.
