re Religion in schools -

Many of you live in 100% Christian, sheltered communities where anyone who doesn't practice is thought of as an 'outsider' where our "hi where are you from" is your "hi which church do you belong to?"

Well up here in CT, Catholics, Buddhists, Jews, Atheists and Agnostics all live in harmony. Black, White, Asian, Puerto Rican, Indian. We respect each other, and each other's beliefs, enough to SEPARATE CHURCH AND STATE.

Homosexuals - you're gay? Sure, be proud of it, just don't hit on me.

Don't force your views on us, and we won't on you - that's the mindset here. Tolerant and accepted, no matter what. How is that wrong?

You're also talking about cartoon characters again.

Only liberties for people who act and think like them. None for Christians, or people who have morals, etc.
Actually, very liberal states like Vermont have the lowest murder rates in the country. They respect the moral command "thou shalt not kill" a LOT better than those from some of the more 'conservative' states.

Explain that one.

How can a person be from a city or live in a city and still be CONSERVATIVE? A city is a pretty dynamic environment, with many different kinds of people from different kinds of backgrounds. To think that one set of values can be applied to all those people is simply naive and anachronistic. Mind-blowing!

THAT sounds like a big nationwide trend! Fascinating!

It does sound like you guys would be pretty close, what with the oh so respectful view that they're possibly retarded or crazy... Not too believable, dude.

But the way they think is foreign to me. They are against religion in schools yet they push those Harry Potter books for reading (which is Wicca).
Harry Potter being taught in schools? Really? Oh, and it's not Wiccan. They're kids' books with a magical element... kinda like the Narnia books. You know, the ones by C.S. Lewis, the christian writer? Like that. Wicca is a nature-based religion... You know, the pagan rituals and holidays that Constantine co-opted so the people would accept his new religion? Yeah, those are the rituals and holidays that Wicca celebrates.

They think its okay to murder little babies, but are all about saving the whales and protecting animals ( I love animals too, but I like humans even better)
I bet you support the war, too.

Pro-war cannot equal pro-life.

Okay to murder little babies... come on, man. Please grow up.

You try to come of as trying to start a "real" conversation about people you're "friends" with... Maybe you should try asking your friends if they have a mental disorder. Maybe you can even suggest a treatment program for them. Seems like a friendlier way than what you've tried here.

Moderators, where's the quality control? Surely it's obvious that a thread that starts out so repugnantly and hatefully can only proceed in one direction.

I prefer to give kudos to those who practice respect and civility on these boards to folks who may think differently than them.

Oh...that, and a higher IQ.
