You have some reasonable proof this is not what happened?
Do you have just a bit of proof that your scenario happened?

The warmer came close to winning because so many people thought Clinton was so good. BTW, I didn't vote for Clinton for the same reason as I skipped the rest. Now Jon Carry was too far left leaning and had lied so many times about Vietnam so I just had to go Bush.
I don't know who Jon Carry is but the scenario you posted was the same for John Kerry.

You people are crazy. This is neither a gaffe nor a coverup. While not exactly technically correct to say Lincoln was the founder of the Republican party, he did put it on the map and it is known as the party of Lincoln. Perhaps he should have said "first notable Republican".

As for a coverup, the explanation given is perfectly logical. Obama improvised and the transcript was later updated to match the actual speech given. If you don't beleive this is hte most logical explanation, do you really think that anyone could have thought they would get away with or accomplish anything by editing the transcript at one media outlet for a speech given on national TV?

"He gives a good speech, but he’s loose with the facts. He called Abraham Lincoln the “founder” of the Republican Party. Nope. Lincoln was not the founder of the party; he wasn’t even the first Republican nominee (John Fremont was, in 1856). Lincoln was, of course, the first Republican to be elected president."

-Jay Carney, on a speech by Mike Huckabee, 2008

But if the source is just some webpages, just update the pages then,...VUALA! You've just rewritten history. Nevermind accuracy.

But seriously, technology is a gift and a curse.

PBS wasn't the only leftist Obama loving media outlet to leave out the sentence about Lincoln being the founder of the Republican party. Those pro-Obama rascals at Fox news did the same thing.

READ: The Full Text Of President Obama's Jobs Speech | Fox Business (http://www.foxbusiness.com/industries/2011/09/08/read-full-text-president-obamas-new-jobs-proposal/ - broken link)

So did many media outlets, who print the text delivered by the WH before the speech, not the transcript of the words actually spoken.

Touche'. So it seems criticism of PBS (in this case) is unwarranted. Let's move on and talk about Obama's embarrassing gaffe itself. We all know that if a Republican had said it the media....

Well, you know.

The fact is incorrect. The intent is right on. Lincoln is an important figure in the early Republican party.

I would classify it as incorrect but a minor error.
