you couldnt afford a full singlepayer system in the usa

our current singlepayer....medicaid...covers about 32 million people...and costs 340 billion a year and increasing

to cover our population....320 million people...it would cost between 2.5-5 trillion A YEAR... on the working tax payer

according to the IRS there are about 105 million taxpaying (1040) households....

at the LOW number of 2.5 trillion divide by the 105 million taxpaying households...is 23k..the high number of 5 trillion is 46k......could you as a working person afford a 23,000 dollar TAX BILL YEARLY....I think not

- I understand, Governor, that your state has degenerated into a Nanny State. I will not sign any legislation that provides you a bailout. Cut government and cut services. That's my advice to you.

Yes, its time to make this nation suffer a bit of hardship to get back to our roots and our principals.

9% Unemployment should not be enough to put a nation on its knees economically. Period. What that means is that our government has failed us by epic proportions.
Will we get out of this ditch? No, I don't think we will. We've devolved into a Welfare Nation, and its irreversible.

But you can be sure that i'll vote for the first cold-hearted, callous Presidential candidate that is willing to give it a try, that's for sure.
Hmmmm so someone who will say "let them eat cake" at least metaphorically speaking.

How did it end up for that ruler??

Personally, I believe that neither limited government nor low taxes are feasible in today's world. Economic and social realities call for more government intervention and services, which require taxation to operate. However, because of our national debt, we can't afford to immediately implement the full range of social programs I would like to see started. In the short term, I think we should focus on eliminating the national debt, getting universal healthcare and propping up the safety net for the unemployed and disabled.
It is sad how we have seen the Tea Party taken over by the right and pretty much putting it in its grave. Wonder if it was done on purpose?

No agenda other than tackling the debt. That's it. Eight years is miniscule. We need the correction.
I can agree with this.

Why not just make it illegal for American companies to move overseas? Also, I support making import tariffs so high it would cost a fortune to buy foreign-made goods, making it more economical to manufacture goods here in the US.

We spend trillions every year on the wars and bailouts. Don't tell me we can't afford to spend that money on healthcare. You can't just divide the cost by the number of taxpaying households. Our tax system is progressive (not nearly progressive enough). Tax the living crap out of the millionaires and billionaires. They can afford to pay far more than $23,000 per year. Having a 99% tax rate on those making more than $100 million per year, a 98% tax rate on those earning more than $50 million per year, an 80% tax rate on those earning $1 million and a 60% tax rate on those earning more than $200,000 per year would more than offset the effect of those earning less than $40,000 paying zero taxes.

I don't think we need to be "cold hearted or callous".

We merely need to be realistic.

We cannot continue to spend like there's no tomorrow.

Welfare, personal and corporate, needs to end.

Welfare was created for the old and the sick, not the stupid and lazy.

"Social justice" is not good policy.

Neither is war, unless we are personally under attack.

To put my tax scale into more detail: here's how it would break down by ANNUAL salary:

$0 – $40,000 = no federal income tax
$40,000 – $50,000 = 17%
$50,000 – $60,000 = 23%
$60,000 – $70,000 = 28%
$70,000 – $80,000 = 32%
$80,000 – $90,000 = 35%
$90,000 – $100,000 = 40%
$100,000 – $150,000 = 45%
$150,000 – $200,000 = 50%
$200,000 – $500,000 = 60%
$500,000 – $1,000,000 = 70%
$1,000,000 – $5,000,000 = 80%
$5,000,000 – $10,000,000 = 90%
$10,000,000 – $40,000,000 = 95%
$40,000,000 – $50,000,000 = 97.5%
$50,000,000 – $100,000,000 = 98%
$100,000,000+ = 99%

I absolutely believe social justice is a good policy, and we can work towards it without bankrupting the nation or spending like there's no tomorrow. I agree with you on war.

(Yes I know I'm a 'Marxist, socialist, communist, America-hating, treasonous pig' for thinking this. That's fine with me. ).

Sounds like Ronald Reagan.
