Ummm..you are kidding, right? they don't SEE you? Well, clearly you have not seen the images that they see. What you are saying is something akin to this: you have a big hole in your bathroom curtains and someone can peek in and see you totally naked. Tell me, are you completely comfortable with that?
People who find nothing wrong with the new TSA invasion of our privacy certainly must not mind being seen totally naked, or not mind being molested by someone putting their hand totally into their crotch. I find it sickening. And I have to do that every time I go to work. (Metal pins in my shoulder as a result of an on the job injury)
Do those of us who protest a favor and volunteer to be groped, photographed and molested..or subjected to radiation...maybe somehow they will let some of us pass(doubtful, but a nice thought). yeah, maybe you only fly once a year and you don't mind being felt up or exposed to radiation. I do this every single day when I go to work and it is utterly disgusting. Oh, not to mention...totally UNNECESSARY.
What is next? Stirrups for a vaginal inspection? Proctologists at the ready to insert gloved fingers up one's tush? Stay tuned.
What is the problem if the person who views the scans sits in a separate room and never actually sees you?
I have no issues with being seen naked or being patted down. I do, however, think that this is infringing into the 4th Amendment territory. That's my only real issue with it.
I dont agree with the invasion of ones body for any reason except maybe if your going into prison.
As far as being fully patted down including your inner thighs isnt this what they do before they put criminals into the back of a patrol car? Even they are assumed innocent until proven otherwise.
I wonder what would happin if someone were to let out an erotic moan while being patted down...down there.
Also are little kids subject to the same search procedures as a full body pat down.. I dont have kids but if someone tried doing that to my neice or nephew I could see my brother kicking the crap out of them..
I have no problem with body cavity searches, for all muslmis, and anyone who fits the racial profile of terrorists.
I am offended for the draconian measures being taken against all travellers, when only a small portion of travellers, people who fit the racial profile of terrorists should be strip searched, and made to bend over and cough...
Just my opnion. And I am very concerned, as a parent of teen age daughters, I don't think that naked pictures of my daughters is appropriate at all, and neither is a pat down appropriate for a twelve year odl girl. Not okay with this at all...It is child porn almost, and not far from child molestation. Not sure about my thoughts on air travel for my teen daughters now...
We have the full body scan at our airport, and it doesn't bother me that much. However, I can't see what they see, and the person viewing sure doesn't look like they're in another room. I'll have to pay closer attention next time I fly.
I would mind less if we didn't have to STILL take off our shoes! It's beginning to feel like the next step is to make us completely undress before we can board.
It's been awhile since they've pulled me aside to pat down, and at least they got a woman to do it. (I'm female). Tho, the TSA people at the Tulsa airport are A-holes. ABQ is usually pretty nice. SEA-TAC, no complaints, Denver, no problems.
I HATE flying, driving, or as I did in the old days, Greyhounding, through Utah. The TSA folks in Salt Lake are A-holes.
It's the people behind it who worry me. Yes, the scan is less invasive than the pat-down. But TSA has just demonstrated its ability and willingness to move the goalposts. When TSA offered pat-downs as the alternative to body scans in secondary screening, the scan sounded pretty good. Now TSA is offering pat-downs as the alternative to body scans in primary screening, and again, the scan sounds better. And if TSA announces tomorrow that pat-downs are the new alternative for all train or bus passengers, body scans will seem preferable there, too. Anywhere we're threatened with pat-downs, we'll settle for body scans. Where does it end?

That same story points to a recently released document (http://epic.org/privacy/airtravel/b (broken link)...) proving that the TSA actually requires its equipment to be able to record and store naked body images. This, despite the fact that the TSA publicly stated, "scanned images cannot be stored or recorded." It turns out they were flat-out lying.
So now we have an admission by the TSA that their equipment is, in fact, capable of storing these naked body images. On top of that, we have an admission that federal agents used that same technology to scan tens of thousands of people while secretly saving those images, too.
Yeah, looks like the gov. doesn't want us to travel. They would rather we didn't think beyond our local backyard.

Janet Nepalitano ( head of Homeland Security) made about the same statement as I did .
She stated if people are so upset with the airport regulations they should find a different mode of travel.
