Republicans have repeatedly blocked the extension of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program, which, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, supports "jobs for some 250,000 parents and youth who are otherwise unemployed, many of whom have been without work for some time.

A stimulus program even a Republican can love
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- There's at least one stimulus program that's creating jobs and winning praise from both sides of the political aisle.

A little-known Recovery Act initiative is expected to put more than 200,000 unemployed people back to work in 32 states and the District of Columbia. It's called the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Emergency Fund, and it subsidizes jobs with private companies, nonprofits and government agencies.

What more proof is needed to show how the GOP is more than willing to sacrifice jobs and the American worker to suit their agenda?

They're self-serving pigs. I never used to hate the Republican party, just certain actors in it. But ever since Barack Obama was elected and they collectively decided to work against every single solitary thing his Administration proposed, regardless of facts or benefits to our country, I have come to loathe them. They are not patriots. They are not out for America or Americans. They are out for themselves at all costs. It's despicable.

If the government did the right thing, it wouldn't have to create jobs. Just give businesses and working Americans big tax cuts, and tax the imports, jobs would return.

Obama is supporting NAFTA, CAFTA, and GATT - he is giving the globalist corporations bailouts but crucifying the businesses that hire Americans. It's foolish to believe the Obama administration cares anything about jobs for Americans when it's encouraging more illegal immigration and more outsourcing of our jobs. And then to turn around and use taxpayer money to supposedly create more jobs?????

I also loathe them, just as I would any corrupt and poison filled entity. I must admit that I have even more disgust for the people that continue to support them just because they have an "R" after their name. These people have no regard or patriotism as it is all about partisanship and winning an election.

Republicans have voted for more than 90% of all legislation proposed since Obama took office.

Interesting. The one article says Reppublicans support this program.

The other one says it helps private employers off-set the cost of hiring new employees.

The largest cost in hiring new people by far is dealing with govt rules and regulations.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to suspend those regulations?

Funny, I find myself loathing democrats, the most despicable, mean, horrible bunch of people in our country's history. No different than Nazis, communists, fascists. Looks like the country agrees with me based on current trends and polling data.

Well just FTR it wasn't the TANF program that they blocked re-authorization for (TANF supplies the CASH assistance component of welfare btw) but the ECF component of TANF which is used by states in their various "welfare to work" transition programs.

The only government regs I'm aware of is E-Verify when hiring people. I'm sure the right wing doesn't want to do away with this. Just take a glance at the immigration forum on CD.
