Yes, but that was written by Emma Lazarus who died in 1887, long before we had any immigration laws.

Times have changed, we need to stop allowing anchor babies to be citizens just because they were born here. It's a loophole we need to close, but our stinking corporate-owned Congress won't do a thing to tick off the National Chamber of Commerce and other corporatists who want abundant cheap labor to break unions, depress wages, eliminate benefits and keep more profits for their own greedy asses. It's BOHICA time folks; as in Bend Over Here It Comes Again.

There should be NO birthright citizenship for those born from TOURISTS in this country. It doesn't apply to foreign diplomats, why should it apply to tourists?

Maybe the USA should start enforcing a rule that no tourist visas are issued for women over 6 months pregnant.

Our lawmaker could have fixed this if they wanted to.
Koreans have been doing it to.

The 1965 immigration reform was a death blow to the US.

The link is misleading in one regard: That speech by former COLO Governor Richard D. Lamm was made in 2005, whereas the link would have you believe this was done just last week.

No hard numbers, sadly. But plenty of cases have been reported.

I guess an equally relevant question is: How many anchor babies actually manage to get US residency for themselves, let alone anyone else?

The total number of green cards issued for immediate family members (spouses, children under 21 and parents) is in the 3-500K range, so it's certainly not all.

The jus soli rules may be overdue for a work-over, but the myth that "anchor babies" make for a simple or easy path to permanent residency is just that.
