The link is not working for me. Are these babies being put up for adoption in the U.S.?
No, these babies are the ticket to citizenship for the family and extended family. Plus the babies qualify for social services until they are 18.
Why would illegals fly here only to have a baby that is a US citizen and give it up for adoption thus giving up their chance at backdoor citizenship themselves ?
Fine..here's Businessweek for you....
MSM or bust..eh ?

The 400k you mention (unendorsed by Business Weel) from Roy Beck, NumbersUSA. NumbersUSA is here; NumbersUSA | For Lower Immigration Levels - For Lower Immigration Levels (http://www.numbersusa.com/content/ - broken link)
Again, agenda driven and not citing sources. Likely source is your other link, which had these gems on the front page:
It's no about it not being mainstream, it's about a taking any number from a site that has an obvious agneda with a grain of salt.
Ok, so you think the number is much smaller ? Like inconsequential so we shouldn't be worried about it ?
Finding the real number for anchor babies is as elusive as finding the real number of illegals that live in this country.
Not until you grant amnesty and they all come out of the woodwork and be counted will you know.
The last amnesty done under Reagan is proof of that.
Government predicted numbers were way, way under actual applications that came in under the amnesty.
Is the number of Chinese who would/could do this worth the outrage?
The average Chinese makes around $1200 per year or about $100 per month. How many people can spend $2k-$3k on something like this? Some wealthy Chinese but not a lot.
Yep, those babies are terrible I guess. The leader for most of this tirade is the famous Michelle Malkin.
"She has a particular obsession with "anchor babies," children born to immigrants in the United States. She is adamant that the laws that allow foreign parents of American-born children to gain citizenship should be changed immediately."
The only problem, as people can probably reason out extreme wingnuts well before hand, is that she is an anchor baby for her parents. Who are illegal immigrants from the Philippines after her father stayed past his work visa, and they wanted to stay. Obviously Chinese people are different I guess.
The sad part is she would be a on a plane the next day after she gets the law she wants passed. Doesn't seem to stop her though.
