They are citizens for the same reason you are: they were born in the USA. And that is according to the US Constitution.
1. There is no such thing as an anchor baby.
2. The Constitution says that these childen who were born in the United States are citizens.
3. I bet you didn't take an oath of allegiance when you were born.
