In the greater Pittsburgh area, Armstrong (3rd) and Westmoreland (5th) counties rank higher than any other Pittsburgh area county.

Overall, Allegheny County schools only rank 61st out of 67 counties in Pennsylvania!

Fortunately, some of our school districts rank among the highest in the state.

The following greater Pittsburgh area school districts rank within the top 100 of 693 schools in the state:

Mt. Lebanon (Allegheny County) 6th out of 693

Franklin Regional (Westmoreland County) 24th out of 693

Peters Township (Washington County) 26th out of 693

Upper St. Clair (Allegheny County) 27th out of 693

Moon (Allegheny County) 30th out of 693

Hampton (Allegheny County) 40th out of 693

Quaker Valley (Allegheny County) 43rd out of 693

Bethel Park (Allegheny County) 52nd out of 693

North Hills (Allegheny County) 55th out of 693

Greensburg-Salem (Westmoreland County) 63rd out of 693

West Shamokin (Armstrong County) 71st out of 693

Fox Chapel (Allegheny County) 75th out of 693

Pine Richland (Allegheny County) 80th out of 693

Baldwin (Allegheny County) 82nd out of 693

Deer Lakes (Allegheny County) 89th out of 693

Elderton (Armstrong County) 90th out of 693

South Fayette (Allegheny County) 95th out of 693

Mount Pleasant Area (Westmoreland County) 99th out of 693

North Allegheny (Allegheny County) 100th out of 693

FORGET CRANBERRY! Seneca Valley ranks 405th out of 693!

Goodness, even Shaler (232nd out of 693) ranks higher than Seneca Valley!

The above rankings were for high schools.

The elementary schools in Mt. Lebanon all rank within the top 154 out of 1811 elementary schools in the state.

Below are the overall state rankings for the Mt. Lebanon elementary schools:

Washington (23rd)
Hoover (47th)
Foster (59th)
Lincoln (65th)
Markham (107th)
Jefferson (154th)

Remember, that's out of 1811 elementary schools in Pennsylvania.

You'll definitely be okay in Mt. Lebanon, morefromcali.

I didn't need any ranking to tell me that Seneca was low on that list. Seneca Valley is a prison. You treat kids like prisoners they will act like prisoners.

People do heroine, LSD, cocaine during school hours there. Remember the areas that send kids to Seneca include Cranberry, Zelienople, Harmony, Seven Fields, parts of Mars-Evan City Road, Evans City, and Jackson Township. This is what I remember from when I went there.

I'm also originally from Cranberry -- and what a change. Not for the better.

I never thought Seneca was the best school, but if you wanted you could get teachers that taught and inspired, so you could learn. And now, from what I understand you aren't too far off the mark.

It's amazing -- It's only been 30 years. I graduated in 1977 -- with the 1977 PA Dairy Princess. Seneca was considered a very farm oriented, agriculturally inspired school... which is why my husband called our football team a bunch of Aggies.

Now -- it sounds as bad as some of the inner city schools we have in Oakland CA.

Yeah I think why a lot of people think Seneca is nice is because of the campus. It looks rather impressive when you drive up to it. I think it looks like a prison but...ya know I spent my entire schooling career in that district so I am a little biased. The "L" shaped hallways make it so friendly! There are no windows in the hallways and all of the windows are tinted so dark it looks like it is storming when it is really quite sunny.
