Just wait my man, just wait. Everyone on the internet thinks they're NASCAR level at driving in every scenario, but once snow hits in real life.....

Probably not many wrecks at all. Most will not drive it unless it is full of salt and plowed.

This is true, whenever I am driving around Brookline and Dormont in the winter I always try to take the flatest route possible if there is snow on the ground. People just get used to driving around the hilly areas in the winter, but the worst part is when you live on one of the streets that is steep. I have some family members who sometimes park on the flat street below their house in Brookline if the hill is icy because it is just not worth the hassle to them.

Sure there is the occasional moron, but come on people. Most don't drive down pig hill in an ice storm. Most will take another route. Yes, you can post some youtube thing that shows that idiot driving the SUV thinking they are all that, but most people know better. Don't waste money on snow tires. Take the bus 10 days a year. Seriously, that is what it will amount to if that. If we have a really wild snow winter (notice I DON'T say bad winter), maybe 15 days. That would be unlikely. Keep an eye on weather and do what you feel safe doing. Winters in Pittsburgh are pretty mild most of the time. Sure the occasional snow hits or ice, but it isn't that often and it usually melts fast. Relax. This isn't Buffalo or Cleveland. We just don't get that much snow. People love to complain about it and I mean they are already starting to complain. I hear people right now saying how bad it is. I kid you not. Don't fall into the wimpy Pittsburgh thing. Just look at the real weather. It is pretty mild.

Like someone said in an a discussion on this subject in the Automotive forum, "I've yet to meet anyone who has tried a modern snow tire that would be willing to live another winter without them." Count me among those who once thought all-seasons were "fine" until switching over to winter tires. I'll never go back to all-seasons for as long as I live in the Snow Belt.
