That's Pittsburghers! We're friendly people!

I'm always surprised to hear people are surprised by our friendliness.

I can't imagine what it's like to live where it isn't friendly!

Welcome to Pittsburgh!

Valt, I too would be interested in some of the in depth reasoning that put some places on your list and took other places off of it.

I'm glad that you are happy and adjusting well to Pittsburgh.

"The locals are very strange, just a shade north culturally from the hills of West Virginia."

outap- just to let you know, west virginians like to be considered strange, it keeps folks like you away.

Why you say West Virginians are considered strange. We moved from Pgh to West Virginia and I don't think any of them are strange at all. They all are very nice, happy to work, and a better place to be than Pgh. Trust me, rush hour in pgh is a madhouse, compaired to Wva, rush hour there is like 10 cars. I love it and no one could never ask me to move back to Pgh ever. We are going to try and move to Ohio int he country living.

I just visited the Pittsburgh area this past weekend and I have to agree that you are some of the friendliest people I've ever met! The people in the stores were friendly and helpful, and complete strangers would strike up conversations with us while we were waiting in line! At the airport, the TSA guys doing security actually smiled and cracked jokes on a very busy Sunday morning at the airport, and the other people working at the airport in the shops and restaurants were also very chatty!

The public elementary school "Minadeo" is excellent.

I had never stepped foot in Pittsburgh until the day we moved here! (My husband took pictures of places we were interested in renting, I looked at them through email and we agreed on this place.) I have only lived in the Midwest. (WI, IL, IA, NE)

It is quite hilly & the weather was not good for the move, but we made it!

Valt,

I was born & raised in Madison, WI. Loved it! I am curious why it is ranked nagative to your needs?
Welcome to the neighborhood! I rented in Regent Square for three years and wanted to purchase a house there. Unfortunately prices were a ways out of our range. We found a house on the other side of the park for a very reasonable price. You might want to check the southern end of Squirrel Hill when looking to buy. We are a block away from Minadeo and still only three blocks from Frick Park.

This is not meant to be negative: Why do you want to move to Pittsburgh if you have never been there? I would advise a visit before making a decision.

Perhaps if we could learn a little more about you we could steer you in the right direction.

We do know:
1.) You are single.
2.) You are 24
3.) You are from Kentucky

What brings you to Pittsburgh? Why did you choose it? What do you like to do? Will you have a job? What type of environment are you looking for?

Hope we can help you out!
