Has anyone been to Wild Rosemary on Bower Hill Road in USC? Is it worth it? Tiny little place, but it must be fabulous to stay open.

Husband and I had a really nice meal at Jackson's at Southpointe a couple weeks ago. We had heard mixed reviews but we were thrilled with our meal and the service.

I actually love this thread. We commute to the city all week. The last thing we want to do on the weekend is come into the city again.

But I didn't go into the "regular" foodies thread and rant about most of the posts being about city restaurants. I simply avoided it because I wasn't going to waste time searching through it for something convenient to where I live or areas where I most often visit.
i don't mind that the thread exists, i just don't think the joking that snooty citydwellers would NEVER deign to go out to the suburbs to eat is necessary, any more than it would be if someone made a "city foodie thread" and said suburbanites would be too scared to come into the big bad city to eat. both statements are clearly untrue; pretty much any time restaurants come up people always talk about places out in the suburbs as well as places in the city, no matter where they live. i wouldn't have even remarked on it except the whole city vs suburbs thing where people say one is perfect and the other is horrible is a really boring recurring theme on this board lately. but whatever. FOOD IS AWESOME!

My Mum and I like Olives and Peppers* Menu in Bakerstown on Rt 8 - good pizza and soup.

I agree about the silliness of the city vs suburb debate - I'm a committed city person, but I go to the 'burbs all the time to be with my family, and feel no shame about it (:

In the Eastern 'burbs, Mohan's on Universal Road in Penn Hills is very good. Great fried chicken, homemade soups, and a good variety and atmosphere. It's in a basically vacant plaza, but it's worth the trip.

I also don't understand the need for two threads (and if a suburban location was in the opposite compass direction from your suburb, wouldn't that be even less useful to you than a location in the City?), but whatever--I expect both threads will get used for suburban locations.

Agreed. The other thread had suburban locations as well. I think some people don't understand that being against poor planned sprawl is different than hating on suburbs. But again, whatever.

Is there any good Dim Sum outside of Squirrel Hill. This is a honest question.

That sucks. If something I really hope works out for me later this year than Dormont could be my next home. I would have kept them in business with how much Dim Sum I use to go through on a weekend. I would just have to continue going to S. hill for some sun Penang.

Will you guys lighten up about city vs suburbs? You remind of my Southern cousins who always bring up the Civil War.

I merely mentioned the Winery that I thought was pretty cool. It's probably closer to Butler than Pgh.

In the OP, you were playing the role of your cousins, no?
