Congrats to everyone with newborn cameras - Sheps, Fedup and warptman! It isn't a bad idea we go on some shoot fest! Anyone want to host this?
I was at the mall today and actually held the camera I have coming. All the settings are on the outside, it's going to save me much time. From my P&S if I want to change something, I have to go into the menu, change the setting, hit the menu button again, then aim to take the shot. Given the size, it didn't seem all that heavy.
I got to feel how the lens works, and I wished it was Monday.

I hear ya buddy. I had about half saved up, the balance is still going to set me back. I am but a "hobby" photographer.

Yeah me too...just a hobby photographer. I don't see myself buying up into a DSLR anytime soon. The reason I even bought this camera was because I needed a better zoom to capture pics of my kids at their special events...graduations and award ceremonies. Then everything became one thing after another...conversion lenses, tripods, a future remote shutter release, two camera bags, a yet-to-be-bought spare battery, Photoshop Elements, two photography books... Sheez! That's it for a long time.

For all those reasons, I am pacing myself. I'll have the camera & the batteries, good enough for now.
You have one week to practice with the texture shots on this new puppy! Show us what it can do!
Oh, and NO PRESSURE by the way!
We have had a full weekend of rain here and I haven't gotten my shot yet, but I know what I want to do and how to capture it.
