I know South Phoenix has a bad reputation, but I am looking at homes on the Southeast side by the Tempe border, specifically between 40-48th St South of Southern, North of Baseline.

On the Phoenix PD website I really didn't see "ALL THAT CRIME" on their maps.

Anyone live in this area or have any experience with it I would be glad to hear it.

Thanks

One thing's for sure: it feels way sketchier than it used to. I had a couple friends in the neighborhood as a teenager and you could just feel the area deteriorate.

I lived off of Prest and Baseline years ago and I didn't think those areas you mentioned were that great back then.

I lived near 40th and Southern back in the early 80s when that area was new. It went down fast and I got out fast. It's the best part of old south Phoenix, though that is not saying much.

I live on 46th street and Southern its not as bad as i thought it was going to be. Rent a house and go to ASU so i only have a year lease and plan to move to a nicer neighborhood afterwards.

The area is just fine. It has diversified over the years
and is probably the most sought after location in Phoenix
(close to freeways, shopping, ASU, etc). Property values
will sky rocket down the road in the area due to the convenient
location.

The further west you go..i would say 32nd st to 35th avenue
those would be the areas to stay away from.
