I noticed the numbers began slowly rising a week ago. The 7 day moving average bottomed out on the 12th. Although this could just be a testing blip.

Today's increase appears to be due to a data dump from ASU. Still alarming, but likely not indicative of a trend.

Same reason some people want MJ legalized even though there is concern for broader health and social issues. It is simply how much control do we want to keep and how much control do we want to turn over to the government.

If you're wearing your mask you have little to worry about from someone who isn't or is only wearing a face shield.
Sorry, but "others points of view" applies to opinions and subjective matters. The evidence that masks can prevent the spread of an airborne disease spread by droplets is not subjective or an opinion.

I guess we shouldn't outlaw drinking and driving because others might a different point of view - you after all can be smart enough to understand what is right for you and your family and they can do the same for theirs. I know when I've had too much to drink, so why should anyone give me some artificial limit that doesn't apply to me?

And those of us wearing masks have plenty to worry about with those who aren't - if they continue to spread the disease and the numbers trend back up significantly enough, we may be facing another shutdown of businesses.

"Live and let live" doesn't apply with COVID. If it doesn't hurt me, go for it.

Using your new-found, open-minded thinking, I say tough-t_tty! Because I suddenly support your reckless partying co-worker who got COVID. After all, you can see why we don't want to "turn over control" to the government. Right? You just need to wear a mask. Never mind the science says otherwise.

If you don't want to get killed by a drunk, wear a seatbelt. Better yet, don't go on the road. Simple!

I don’t text and drive, but I’m smart enough to understand that what may be right for me may not be right for others. As long as you don’t text and drive, you have nothing to worry about. How much do we really want to be controlled?

10 days after Labor Day. Allowing for test turnaround time, utterly predictable.

This is a fundamental misunderstanding that is causing huge problems. Your mask, unless it is a true fitted respirator, does little to protect you. What it does is minimize the spread of the virus from you to others. Other people wearing masks is what protects you. The actions of others does have an impact on the safety of you and your family and you shouldn't give them a pass for the sake of a "live and let live" philosophy. What's right for you and your family is for everyone to be masked.

Antigen tests are finally being added to the numbers so a big batch of tests not previously included were just added. (and there will probably be more over the next few days)

It's hard to understand how there is not a unanimous understanding of this at this point in time. But here we are.
