I will be in Phoenix in the next couple of weeks to look at the Athem at Merrill master planned community. The homes in there seem to be great bargains (numerous choices from $130K to $200K base - hard to believe, but look it up). I'm retired, so I would consider any area in metro Phoenix.

My question is, do you know of any similar bargain priced master-planned communities in the metro Phoenix area? Thanks.

I can believe the prices out there once you look at a map at where they are located. Anything that far out is a lot cheaper. I don't know any master planned communities that would be that cheap.

I few months from now you might see much lower prices:

Pulte Homes Swings to 2Q Loss - Forbes.com (broken link)

D.R. Horton Swings to 3Q Loss: Financial News - Yahoo! Finance (broken link)

The Florida housing market and what might come in Arizona?

That's what I think too. If I like what I see, I think I'll just leave my number and tell them to call me when they get more desperate.

I would be careful when buying something way out in Queen Creek. I saw an article on the huge fissures that develop out there. The Maricopa Co. building department has a fissure map for review.
