First look: Inside the Laurel, a 48-story Rittenhouse Square tower where condos start at $2.8M:

"The 65 condos start at $2.8 million and cost up to $25 million for a full-floor penthouse spanning 9,000 square feet. There are three full-floor penthouses, one of which has already been sold, and eight half-floor units. Nearly 70% of the condos have already sold, Emmons said.

“Rittenhouse Square is like oceanfront property,” Emmons said Monday during a tour of the building. “It’s where everyone wants to be."

There are two planned commercial tenants: Equinox, a luxury fitness club, and a Michael Schulson restaurant."

It's a great sign for Philly that there's a market here for these condos.

^Southern Lands deserves a lot of credit for believing in Philly. Love how it turned out. 70% sold is pretty good. Hopefully that allows the other condo, where Cavs was, to get going in Rittenhouse.

Great to hear about the sales at The Laurel, all the more impressive that these sales occurred right after two of the most tumultuous and concerning years for the city in some time. Really shows the staying power of Philadelphia's urban living appeal.

As for the tower itself, I was hoping for more "statement making" modern architecture, but it's still a very solid project and filled in one of the most embarrassing lots in the city.

Hopefully this success also allows Pearl to up the ante at Jeweler's Row (great reference, by the way, thedirtypirate, lol).

Agree the tower is great, but not quite as impactful as Arthaus. I especially like the main entrance on Walnut Street though, it is grand yet elegant.

Overall an awesome project that fills a big void, and 70% sold near the finish line is solid. I wonder how the pricy rentals are doing?

Ironically, now there is a new vacant lot 2 blocks away... Maybe Southern Land Co will put in an offer for it.

I think the Laurel is amazing. I'm surprised at the meh response. We're talking Ritt Square here. You don't want something flashy like Arthaus on the square. I feel like they absolutely nailed the aesthetic.

I'd like to see how Arthaus is doing sales-wise.
