Agree. Also, it's very difficult to have an "open to the public" store/shop (even a Starbucks) in a building that houses highly sensitive and proprietary information like this facility for Spark will do. Now I'm sure they'll have a cafeteria (probably run by Aramark) and a coffee spot of some sort (maybe a Starbucks), but it will be for their employees and guests only would be my guess.

Correct, and frankly, maybe the increase in lunchtime bodies around 30th street might shoot some energy into the train station's food offerings.

But it's not a new concept to add a retail component to this type of building, see the other buildings in U City and the research centers in Cambridge. Maybe a full scale restaurant won't work, but something small to enliven that stretch. Either way, I am happy to see this project move forward, but a public food concept is the only missing piece.

Really? I work in Pharma and can't recall any major company locations in Cambridge or U. City that aren't totally locked down (receptionist, security, badges, etc...) and none of them have any kind of public offerings attached to their facilities. Maybe it exists, I simply have never seen that.

Regardless, it doesn't look like it's happening with the Spark facility.

In fairness, Willy Wonka had to go through similar lengths to prevent Slugworth's corporate espionage. That, and to fend of OSHA.

The chicken man made me laugh on this weekend of championship losses. He polished off the 40th one yesterday in front of a crowd.

Erdy McHenry has designed some of the most attractive modern buildings of the last 20 years, and that apartment tower at 21st and Ludlow adds another one to that firm's portfolio, which includes the Piazza in Northern Liberties and the fade-into-the-background parking garage with the Trader Joe's on its street floor across from the Convention Center in the 1300 block of Arch Street.

Agreed. Parkway's turn from parking lot operator to commercial real estate owner is really awesome. It's time for it to happen in Center City west
