For businesses it might be a negative effect, but they can always put their names on those blue PennDOT highway signs for what's coming up at the exit. If people are traveling and need gas or are hungry, they'll get off the highway. Maybe they'll travel down the strip looking for something and end up stopping at other places too. I think people traveling through now don't stop either. They add to the congestion.

For locals, the impact will be positive for sure. Much less traffic means fewer accidents and increased ease of getting around on a daily basis. Even the roads 11/15 are becoming jammed with cars. Everyone avoiding the main road traffic creates more traffic on the secondary roads.

I for one am looking forward to the bypass's completion. However, I don't own a business on the strip.

Looks like a huge thrift shop is taking over the old Value City building.

Yes, Community Aid. Their drop-off boxes are there now in the parking lot. They're supposed to eventually hire 55 to 60 part-time employees. They also have drop-off boxes at the Wnfield Fire Company, and perhaps some other locations around the area.

The adjacent part of the building next to the Med Express is going to be a mail order pharmacy the last I heard.

I live very close to their main location. It's always busy and they do have some decent stuff.

Yesterday's paper had info on a new restaurant planned for next to Sheetz on the north side. I forget the name now, but it will have pizza and craft beers made on premises.

Also, went by Twisty Freeze in Selinsgrove yesterday evening. Lights on inside and electronic sign said "accepting applications for all ..." (didn't see the rest but I assume all positions). Should be opening soon, I hope.

Dont hold your breath on the Twisty Freeze opening anytime soon. I never saw a place take so long to open!! And that hiring sign has been on for a few months now. It also says pizzeria. On a related note Wendt's Pork Palace on 522 is for sale.

Yeah, the Twisty Freeze bought all of Sorella's equipment when they went out of business.

I had no idea Wendt's was for sale!! I wonder if they'll keep the catering business and still do carnivals and such. That's been one of our favorite places to go for a quick meal, but they're seldom very busy.
