I don't have any books by Gaffrey--I will have to check him out. I have this huge one by Crescent Dragonfly but I still don't know how I feel about it. It is arranged very well, but the recipes don't hit it right on for me (not sure if its flavoring/exotic ingred./time--maybe a little of all), but I have come a couple of gems there.

I haven't tried the smoked almond butter, but it sounds exciting (I just got a Vita-Mix at a garage sale too! Maybe this will be my first "butter" try). We went to a PB Loco cafe over the winter and loved it! They have all these crazy peanut butters and crazy sandwich combinations! And they are all sooo good! So your sandwich sounds good.

Oh, and maybe I will have to check out the dessert book. I'm coming to the conclusion that sweets are just a natural part of childhood. Most children tend to prefer sweet foods (something to do with tastebuds) and they need the extra fat. Of course, the challenge is trying to make them as healthy as possible. The latest edition of Vegetarian Times has a yummy raspberry-oat bar that I'm going to try out on 4th of July. I'll let you know how it goes over. (I didn't give my oldest sweets until 3, and then it was things like homemade/bakery cookies; my youngest now knows candy when he sees it! You can only control their knowledge for a little while and when there is a big bro/sis in the picture--not at all!
