Interesting study and I'm not surprised at all. Most of us know that routine is best for young children. What I did find interesting is that it didn't matter what time the children were put to bed as long as it was consistent.

A set bedtime may help a child

I had set bedtimes for my kids. It was a complete routine, dinner, baths, clean their rooms, put away toys, help put away laundry, reading, and bed by 9. It was the only way I stayed sane. I did not care what they did, but they stayed in their rooms after 9.

7pm for us in this house. 1st child did 7pm by age 1 and 2nd child bless him, from day 1 (we were blessed to not have that nocturnal problem with him). Our house thrives on it! 7-10pm is for mom and dad only.

Actually, set bedtimes are more important for parents' brain sanity.

Thats cool. I had never read that. I just made them go to bed so I got some peace and quiet. I wonder if I can retro spin it so I was being a good parent?

I've known too many folks who let their kids fall asleep on the floor in front of the TV and then they carry them to bed. How sad for everybody concerned. We let our girls stay up till 9 this summer (they are 11) but most of the time they put themselves to bed around 8:30. they have pretty full days so they are tired. but when they were little it was 7 year round and they never much balked.

How long did they sleep at 1? I'm curious about what time you were all getting up. I've read it can go between 10-12 hrs and only 8 for some kids.

5-5:30am for both. 6am on the days my husband doesn't work (we live in a small house and he always wakes them getting ready for work).
