Latest on CO meetup - we'll rethink it in the late summer/fall. Summer is looking too busy to make it work.....

98 here at sunny. Walked to get the mail. Those days are numbered. The neighbors were out cutting brush. You can always tell the natives. Heat doesn't bother them.

Okay, so here's one of my dramas, my high school reunion is this year, it's a general, multi-year reunion as the school no longer exists, and it's being held in South Africa as Zimbabwe is in ruins. So one of the teacher's who will be attending was a real bastard. We had corporal punishment, and he really enjoyed dishing it out. He was a mean bully, and he especially liked picking in weaker kids, minorities, gay kids, etc. Many of the attendees think he should be welcomed and forgiven, the rest think he should be barred. Me, I think he should come if he wants, but he better be ready to apologize, and take what is dished to him. The thing is people are travelling from all over the world, each spending thousands of dollars, and just want to enjoy themselves. I am only going to reconnect with my 3 best friends (who now live in the UK, Australia, and Zimbabwe) that I haven't seen all together since 1979, I really don't care much about the others. People are going crazy over this issue.

My 10 year reunion landed on my wedding anniversary. I wasn't going to pay a couple hundred dollars to sit in a room with people I didn't like 10 years ago on my anniversary. Seriously though, the people I want to keep in contact with, I am still in contact with. I don't really see the point of me going to a reunion since I still run into people on almost a daily basis.

Whoa, Zimbo. How do the kids who "got it" the most feel? Horrible to have to go to school with that.

I have a high school reunion coming up. I looked the school up on line and there was a section where people were RSVPing. All the people I didn't especially like are going, lol. I highly doubt I'll go. Unless it's to show off DH as I was quite the nerdy girl in H.S. I've kept in contact with my best friend from HS and she's not going.

Though I went to 2 of my Dad's and had a terrific time. I still keep in contact with some of his friends.

That's the big issue, the people who suffered the most under this evil man are angry they have spent thousands of dollars when he will be in attendance, and especially as they are essentially being told to forgive and forget. He tried his nonsense with me once, but was unsuccessful. That's the huge consequence of corporal punishment, it is very subjective, there were no records kept, and the teachers had free range to pretty much inflict any type of punishment on any kid for any real or perceived infraction. Pretty scary.

I wonder if any other posters here had corporal punishment at school?
